AKC CGC Test Prep

If you've ever gone to a summer sports or art camp, you probably remember spending the first few weeks learning new skills, and then the last week practicing until your proficiency became second nature.

Our 3 Week AKC Prep Board and Train operates under the same philosophy. Roughly the first two weeks focus on teaching your dog clear communication and skills such as reliable off leash recall, impulse control, door and leash manners, and remaining neutral around distractions. The final week is all about repeatedly practicing these skills until they become muscle memory for your pup. By the end of training, your pup will be able to successfully complete the 10 items
included on the AKC Good Citizen exam:
    - Accepting a friendly stranger
    - Sitting politely to be pet
    - Accepting grooming tasks
    - Walking on a loose lead
    - Walking calmly through a crowd
    - Sitting and staying in place on command
    - Recall on command
    - Remaining neutral around another dog
    - Remaining neutral around distractions
    - Remaining calm and under control when their handler walks away

All of our trainers are AKC certified, ensuring the highest levels of experience and knowledge as they work with your pup and prepare them to earn their Good Citizen Certification.

While your dog is with us your trainer will be in contact with you every single day, sharing photos, videos, and a debrief of everything your pup has learned as well as detailing what the training plan is for the next day. The program includes pick up service the day your dog onboards with us, their training collar, and a 3 to 4 hour turnover session at the end of training. This learning session is especially crucial to your pup’s success; it is when your trainer teaches you your dog’s new method of communication and helps you master the skills needed to build upon all they have learned.
